Karachi: Police in Karachi intervened in a dispute between neighbours in the Bukhari Road of area of DHA Phase - 6 and a later released video has gained views on social media today. According to the police report, a resident of an apartment building in Bukhari asked police to come to her home after she said that her downstairs neighbours were banging on her front door, threatening her and making her feel unsafe. These neighbours included a man, his ister and their mother.
Police responded and according to the report learnt that the young woman and her neighbours had a parking dispute that had sparked the anger. The police report was filed at Darakhshan police station at 1:40 am,. CCTV footage has emerged since that appears to show the young woman running down the stairs carrying a one to two kilogram dumbbell that she swung at one of the downstairs neighbours - fortunately only half hitting her - after which two police officers appear and try to restrain the parties concerned. She then took two more half hearted swipes and lightly hit what appears to be the shoulder of one of the other women.
Both parties continued to hurl insults at each other throughout the incident.
Police say they will hold an inquiry into whether the actions by either party rise to the level of assault for either party under section 354 of the PPC, which makes it a criminal offence to assault or force a woman with the intent of outraging her modesty.
