Tharparkar: Five people were killed on the spot and 15 others injured when a passenger coach carrying pilgrims collided with a trailer near the Piloro police post on the Mithi-Diplo road, according to police and health authorities.

The victims, members of the Bhel community residing in Bhel Colony, Naukot, were returning home with their families after visiting the Wachhra Peer shrine near Diplo when the crash occurred. Police identified the deceased as Sajjan Bhel, Lekhraj, Somar, Dodo, and Bhimraj.

Confirming the casualties, Civil Surgeon Mithi Dr Shahid Jhanjhi said the facility received five bodies and 15 injured passengers following the collision. Due to the severity of their injuries, three individuals in critical condition were subsequently referred to Hyderabad for specialised treatment.

Following reports of the incident, Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Abdul Haleem Jagirani and other district officials visited Civil Hospital Mithi to monitor emergency response operations. The deputy commissioner instructed hospital administration to provide all necessary medical care to the injured.

Law enforcement authorities have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
