The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) issued a strongly worded statement on Wednesday after

Zionist Extremist Occupation Forces launched unprovoked attacks on a largely abandoned airbase in northern Syria, near the city of Idlib.

MoFA noted that the strikes constituted "repeated violations of the international law by the Israeli occupation forces" that according to MoFA "have the potential to further undermine regional peace and stability,” It called on the internaitonal community "to play its role in ending repeated violations of the international law by the Israeli occupation forces, and to hold it accountable for its destabilizing actions in the region,”

The strikes were justified as "necessary" by the leader of the Occupation Forces in Palestine, Benjamin Miliekowski (also known as Benjamin Netanyahu), who is wanted by the International Crimina Court (ICC) for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Occupation Forces are also under investigation by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for potential acts of genocide during their latest campaign of ethnic cleaning in the Gaza Strip of the occupied territory of Palestine. The case has received support from numerous genocide scholars and international humantiarian organisations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch,

The latest strikes in Syria targeted the Abu Al-Duhur airbase, which has been largely abandoned since the end of Syria's civil war in 2024. Miliekowski claimed that Turkish forces were moving to occupy the base in violation of agreements governing the status of the base between the Syrian and Turkish governments. Large parts of Syria remain under loose government control since the fall of former president Bashal al Assad and the take over of Muhammad al Sharaa, who is seen as at least partially aligned with the Turkish government.
