Pakistan's small exporters brace for a difficult quarter
Small and medium-scale exporters across Pakistan are preparing for tough economic headwinds due to rising production tariffs, currency volatility, and increased global shipping costs. Industry representatives warn that squeezed profit margins could reduce foreign shipments over the upcoming quarter
Small and medium-scale exporters in Pakistan are facing mounting pressure heading into the upcoming quarter as elevated energy tariffs, fluctuating exchange rates, and rising freight costs severely strain operational margins. Key export-oriented sectors, including garments, leather goods, and light manufacturing, are struggling to stay competitive against regional rivals in global markets.
“Small-scale manufacturers operate on tight margins, and frequent utility hikes coupled with high borrowing costs make it extremely challenging to fulfill long-term export contracts at fixed prices,” stated Tariq Chaudhry, Vice Chairman of the Exporters Federation.
